Centre for Culture and Education Moravian Ostrava

Exhibition Hall Sokolská 26, which is run by the Centre for Culture and Education Moravian Ostrava, contributory organization of the City District Moravian Ostrava and Přívoz, started its activities in 1993. As its name suggests it is located on avenue Sokolská 26 on the first floor of a historic villa. Its dramaturgy presents significant and indisputable art personalities that create and uphold the concept of the contemporary Czech art scene. Not only works by many leading Czech and foreign artists are presented there but also group exhibitions of mostly young artists from different regions are organised here. The curator of the exhibitions is Ing. Milan Weber.

Václav Buchtelík (1990)

An exhibition by a young painter, a distinct graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts of University of Ostrava from the painting class of Daniel Balabán. Buchtelík’s expressive approach springs from concerns and anxiety about the state of the current world. The author will present both monumental and minute paintings and a new series of objects.

17.00–18.00 Adolf Dudek – Painting for kids

A fun and interactive show that the adults as well as kids will enjoy. We’ll show you the whole life story of books beginning by inspiration and concluding in a book’s creation in a fun way and with a real illustrator of books for kids and his works. Try how easy it is to draw anything with only the basic geometric objects! Competitions and humour are part and parcel of the show!

18.00-20.00 Face painting

20.00–23.00 Craft stop at Sokolská

Exhibition Hall Sokolská 26 will offer lots of craft activities focused on artistic fun and visual contemplation in this year of Ostrava Museum Night. Art exhibition will turn into an artistic studio, in which you can try lots of different visual art methods.

20.00–22.00 Encaustic painting workshop

Encaustic painting or hot wax painting is a technique coming from ancient Greece. This art method is becoming more and more popular due to its simplicity. Even a total rookie can conjure beautiful landscape and abstract motives. Every participant will take home an image on a hardboard and other works on coated paper.
